Eligibility criteria

To sign up, you must:

• be at least 21 years old 

• hold a valid, permanent drivers licence free of restrictions that would prevent you from operating a vehicle

• have no major moving or traffic offences or violations in the last three years; 

• have no more than three minor moving offenses or accidents in the last three years;

• Have no alcohol/drug related driving violations, restrictions, suspensions, or incidents in the past 7 years.

FAQs

Can I use my digital licence?

We can't accept digital licences as we have no way of verifying them. A physical licence is required for the verification process during sign-up. Once approved as a member, drivers may use their digital licence where permitted by state laws.  

Can I borrow cars if I’m visiting from another country?

You don't need an International Driving Permit (international licence) to borrow cars on Uber Carshare, as long as you have a valid driver’s licence from your home country and an English translation.

If you plan to drive outside of Ontario, you'll need to check each state’s rules for international drivers. We'll be in touch if we need any more information to process your account verification.
