Short answer:
You can set the youngest age of borrowers allowed to borrow your car through the website or app. You may need to do this for your Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance.
Members must be at least 21 to borrow cars, but you can set the youngest age of drivers allowed to drive your car at a higher level if you wish. You can choose from 21 and over, 23 and over, 25 and over, or 28 and over
Setting the minimum driver age for your car
In the website
- Log in to the website
- Go to Cars and click Manage car
- From your car's profile, click Preferences
- Select your desired minimum age from the 'Minimum borrower age' dropdown menu
- Click Save changes
In the app
- Log in to the app
- Go to Cars and tap Profile
- Scroll down to the 'Minimum borrower age' section
- Select your desired minimum age from the dropdown menu
- Tap Save
To maximise bookings, we suggest that you set the age of the youngest borrower at 21 or 25, but it’s up to you to decide what you are comfortable with.
P plate or provisional licence holders aren't able to join as borrowers.
Age and Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance
In some states (NSW and QLD) you must purchase CTP (sometimes known as 'greenslip') separately to your registration and comprehensive insurance.
Depending on your CTP policy, you may have a minimum driver age requirement, and your CTP costs may change if you choose a lower minimum driver age. If you are planning to lower your minimum driver age, it is important to ensure you have updated these details with your CTP insurer.
If a CTP claim is required and the driver is under the age you've declared, then the CTP insurer may charge an excess of between $300 - $2,000.

I need to state 26yrs as youngest driver...ie over 25
Hi Maryanne, you can set the minimum age as 21 and over, 23 and over, 25 and over, or 28 and over for your car. We don't have an option to set the minimum age as 26.
