Setting your booking preferences (Key Handover only)

Note: This information is only relevant to owners on our Key Handover plan.

If you’re on our Key Handover plan, you can set restrictions around the timing and length of bookings you receive. You can set:

  • times your car is unavailable for pick-up or drop-off
  • the minimum advance notice period you need before a booking starts

If a borrower’s search doesn’t match all of your preferences, they won’t be able to book your car.

 Important

Fees apply if you cancel a booking, so use your settings to make sure you only get bookings at times you and your car are available.

Setting pick-up and drop-off unavailability

By default, borrowers are unable to make a booking that starts or ends between 11pm and 6am. You can also set additional times when you are unavailable to meet borrowers and hand over the keys, either as a recurring weekly blockout or a one off.

This can only be done on the website (not app)

  1. Log in and go to Cars > Manage car > Calendar
  2. Select ‘Make unavailable for pick-up’
  3. Drag and drop in the calendar or enter the start and end times you’d like to make your car unavailable for pickup
  4. If you’d like this time to repeat each week, tick the ‘Repeat weekly’ box and enter the date you’d like the repeat to end
  5. Click ‘Add new blockout’

Setting minimum advance notice period

Most bookings are made on short notice and you need to be available to meet borrowers and hand over the keys. Set the shortest period of time you need before each booking to make sure your car is home and you can arrange to hand over the keys.

This can only be done on the website (not app)

  1. Log in and go to Cars > Manage car > Edit profile > Preferences
  2. Under the ‘Advance notice’ section select the minimum advance notice period you need before each booking
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click ‘Save changes'

Most borrowers tend to book at the last minute rather than planning well ahead. More than half of all bookings are made with less than 12 hours' notice. The shorter the advance notice period you can accommodate, the more bookings you'll receive.

You can choose 'Instant' if:

  • you are always available at a moment's notice to meet borrowers; or
  • there is another way the borrower can get the key without meeting you, such as a key lockbox or by getting the key from a trusted person such as a doorperson or neighbour. If you're relying on someone else to hand over the key, they need to be available to do this at all times when your car is available for bookings.
