You pay for your trip in two parts: at checkout when you book and then after your trip ends.
Pre-trip costs
Rental costs that are charged at the time you book a car.
Time charges
Each car has an hourly and daily rate. You pay by the hour until you reach the daily rate – the daily rate is the most you'll pay for a car in a 24-hour period.
Example: A car costs $5 an hour and $25 a day. You’ll pay for each hour up to 5 hours (5 x $5 = $25) and then the rate will be capped at $25 for the remainder of the 24-hour period.
Some cars have higher rates on certain days or times of the year. You’ll also find some car owners offer discounts when cars are booked for 3 days or more, or 12 days or more.
Booking fee $3
Fee charged to customers and paid out to cover auto insurance, onboarding costs, and other trip-related expenses.
Trip Cover
Trip Cover is a variable fee that provides you with vehicle protection for your trip. The fee is based on various factors, including the duration of your trip.
Deductible reduction (optional add-on)
You can reduce your excess from $3,000 to $500 for an additional $1.50 an hour or $15 a day.
Post-trip costs
Distance charges
You pay a distance charge for each mile you drive, depending on the type of vehicle. You can also see the rate on the car's profile. This cost includes vehicle protection, gas and the car's running costs.
- Electric vehicles - $0.14/mi
- Cars - $0.23/mi
- SUVs - $0.28/mi
- Vans/minivans - $0.36/mi
Tolls
Borrowers are responsible for paying for tolls as they pass through a toll. If you don’t pay for a toll and the owner receives a bill, the owner can the report it to us. We'll charge you for the cost of the toll plus an admin fee for our spent processing it.
Taxes
Any taxes are calculated at checkout and are charged on top of the cost of the trip. Taxes may vary depending on which state you're located in. They are displayed on trip receipts, and are also shown at checkout when you book your trip.
Additional fees
To make sure owners and borrowers have the best experience, we charge additional fees to cover things like late returns, cleanliness, damage, lost keys and parking infringements. See all admin and inconvenience fees.
